Health,Hygiene and Safety
Personal medication: the Tour Leader carries a first aid kit. This does not include medications
Vitamin supplements
Water-purifying tablets: These should not be necessary but, particularly for shorter trips, you may prefer to avoid all risks.
Needle kit: Your own set of sterlised needles, canulae etc. Again, this shouldn't be necessary - but some people prefer to have their own.
Personal wash kit
Toilet paper/tissues/wet-wipes
Suncream: factor as appropriate. You will be spending long days in the outdoors
Insect repellent: 40% deet, or stronger, is recommended unless you have sensitive skin
Antihistamine cream: should the bugs still get to you
Whistle: To alert others. You will be provided with one attached to a hook remover but it won't hurt to carry a spare
Comfort and Convenience
Travel towel
Favourite snacks from home
Torch/flashlight: (better still, a headtorch. Those with LEDs give good light and a long battery life)
Spare batteries
Those little extras
Binoculars
Entertainment: games, music, books
Phrasebook
Camera: with spare film/batteries/memory cards (and maybe a tripod): You will have limited opportunities to download/recharge. Presuming you are bringing a digital camera, consider how you can be sure of enough power and storage. It may be worth buying a solar charger, and certainly will be worth getting a 4 GB, or larger, memory card.
Money belt: or other 'safe place' for your passport, cash and bank cards
And don't forget ...
Gifts from home: for your hosts and other friendly locals you meet during your fishing holiday.
