Brahmaputra Adventure
Big River, Big Fish. Say no more.
6 night/7 day fishing holiday, on the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries
Brahmaputra (Son of Brahma) is the name given to this incredible river as it passes through India's State of Assam. In Tibet it is known as the Yarlung or Tsangpo River, in Arunachal Pradesh it is the Dihang, in Bangladesh it is the Jamuna; its complex delta merges with that of the Ganges, India's most holy river.
The section of river and tributaries near to the Kaziranga (a.k.a. Nameri) National Park abound in big fish. This fishing holiday gives you plenty of opportunity to try for the different species of Mahseer and Catfish available and to take home some great memories of wonderful scenery and angling adventures.
Please note: This fishing holiday starts in Guwahati (Airport Code, GAU) for maximum flexibility. We must leave here by 09:00 on Day 1 in order to get to Tezpur and complete fishing permit formalities before continuing to our accommodation.
Through our agents in India we can provide you with all the assistance you need to get to Guwahati from your international portal, including any domestic flights, trains, transfers or accommodation.
If you would like to extend your holiday with other services in India then we can provide a free quotation on request.
Day 1: Arrival in Guwahati
Arrive into Guwahati (airport code GAU) where you will be met and taken to Tezpur in order to obtain your fishing permit. This office closes at 16:00 so we must leave Guwahati by 09:00.
After the formalities, we transfer to our Tent Camp base. Now you can get to know your fellow anglers and get ready for the following days fishing.
Some anglers may find that they need to arrive into Jorhat Airport (code: JRH) which is about the same distance away. We can arrange a transfer from this airport at no extra cost. The same timing applies. We must leave Jorhat by 09:00 on Day 1 to get to obtain fishing permits without disrupting the fishing.
Should flights to Tezpur (Airport code: TEZ) resume then we will look to make that the start point for the fishing holiday as it is much closer - only 40 Km, less than one hour driving.
Meals: Dinner at the Tent Camp
Drive: 220 Km, about five hours

Day 2 to Day 5: Fishing in the Brahmaputra and tributaries
During these five days there will be lots of fishing. We will try different styles, different locations and different timings to give you the very best opportunity to catch a range of exotic species. The bigger the better.
Typically, we will head off towards Bhalukpong and raft downriver from there, stopping for lunch at a small camp set up along the way.
For variety, we will sometimes fish the Bhorali River, a tributary of the Brahmaputra.
Golden Mahseer and Katli (Copper or Chocolate Mahseer) will no doubt be the main targets for most anglers. Some may choose to target Catfish. The Giant River Catfish and Long-whiskered Catfish are both found in parts of the Brahmaputra.
Meals: Breakfast and dinner at the Tent Camp. Lunch will normally be served to you wherever you are fishing
Drive: Transfers as appropriate. Approximately 20 Km each way

Your last chance to catch something memorable. Make the most of it. In the evening we have a celebratory dinner together with our local guides.
