Fishing Tackle and Equipment Checklist
Last Updated
23rd Jan, 2009
This checklist is meant to give you an idea of what to bring to suit local conditions. Since we operate fishing holidays in vastly different locations we have created links to more detailed information below. You only need read those that apply to your trip.
You need not bring everything listed, nor are the lists meant to be a comprehensive packing guide. They are merely an alert for experienced anglers trying to achieve the right balance between completeness and manageability during that difficult packing stage.
If you have any specific questions on packing then please feel free to email.

Responsible Fishing: Please be prepared
Please note: Nylon monofilament left by the river bank is a hazard to wildlife. Please carry a small bag to save clippings and cut line, or at least stuff it in your pocket for proper disposal later.
Please note: Although game fishing is more sporting on light tackle, the counter argument says that a long fight can leave a fish in a poor state. Since we support a Catch & Release Policy, we request that you bring tackle that is strong enough to land big fish quickly, use barbless hooks and return fish with a minimum of handling.
For more guidelines on being a responsible angler, please read our page Responsible Fishing: Best Practices for Catch & Release
Fishing tackle
Please note: All this needs to be organised into bags/boxes as appropriate. It makes sense to have a set of smaller boxes to take out daily with a larger stock of spares kept in camp to replenish as required. Save time hunting for what you need, and catch more fish.
Clothing
The selection of clothing will be very much dependent upon your destination as well as what you have available and your own preferences. Follow the links below to see suggestions appropriate to each of our fishing destinations:
