Inclusions

Last Updated

Our itineraries offer a list of inclusions as an indication of what you can expect from your fishing holiday. We use a short form of wording there for clarity. This section offers more detail for those who are interested in knowing exactly what these entail.

Accommodation

You will normally be given a single room unless booking with other people in which case we will ask what your rooming preferences are.

We will let you have the details of your first hotel at least 30 days before the beginning of the fishing holiday.

Tourist class hotel

Hotel standards vary in different countries and even within countries. We therefore do not put much store by star ratings. When our itinerary includes a Tourist Class Hotel, this is one which is frequently used by tour groups, or of a similar standard.

Resort

A resort is almost always a complex away from the downtown with a complete range of facilities of its own. We sometimes use resorts at the end of a fishing holiday where a bit of relaxation will be appreciated.

Hotel

Any accommodation rated as Hotel is of a standard lower than Tourist class hotel. Often, when we inlude a stay at such a venue it is because there is no other choice.

Guesthouse

This designation is reserved for the most basic level of roomed accommodation. We choose our guesthouses for cleanliness, and then other factors such as location and atmosphere. Rooms may be multi-share.

Camping

Camping in tents offers the most flexibility but need not sacrifice all comfort. Where we camp, we include a separate mess tent for the cooking and a shower/bathroom tent too.

Basic sleeping mats are provided but not sleeping bags. Please see our Fishing Tackle and Equipment Checklist for further advice

Tent camp

This type of camp is erected on a semi-permanent basis, usually for the duration of a particular season. What is lost in flexibility is then gained in facilities.

Ger camp

Some fishing holidays in Mongolia offer a short stay in a ger camp. These are very much like the Tent camps described above except that tents are the traditional felt gers.

You can read more about gers on our Mongolia: What to Expect page.

The gers in a ger camp are constructed in the same way as all gers but are placed on semi-permanent bases. They are not homes and most of the etiquette rules become irrelevant. The ger camp usually has shower/toilet and restaurant facilities.

Domestic flights

Domestic flights are sometimes included in the cost of your fishing holiday (but not the cost of baggage in excess of the normal limit of 20 Kg).

We will always try to alter the itinerary where we know of a probable flight issue that will affect your onward travel plans. However, we cannot be held responsible for delays or changes to the schedule whether or not these affect your other travel plans. You should obtain adequate travel insurance to cover the extra costs that may be incurred because of delays or changes to the schedule.

We reserve the right to add a surcharge if the cost of any domestic flight increases by more than 10%. In the unlikely event that the surcharge represents more than 10% of the fishing holiday package price quoted to you originally, we'll offer you the chance to cancel. Should you decide to cancel under such circumstances we will return your deposit in full.

Staff

We take sufficient staff along so that you get to go fishing, not do chores. However, to keep trips affordable, we keep the numbers of these reasonable, and you should bear in mind that they are there to look after the group first, and individual requests later. Hopefully you will be so impressed by their friendliness and competence as to offer gratuities at the end of your trip.

Local Tour Leader

The Tour Leader is responsible to us for your well being and satisfaction with the trip. As such, you should direct all comments and requests to the Tour Leader. They will do their best to accommodate reasonable requests, but they must bear in mind the best interests of the group and the published itinerary.

The Tour leader will be a local with good English. Amongst their other roles, they will act as a translator for the whole group.

After booking you will be provided with emergency telephone contact details for our local agents and our own management. You may use these in the unlikely event that you have serious issues unresolved by our Tour Leader.

Please note: Our fishing holidays go to remote areas. It is necessary that you recognise the authority of the Tour Leader in all decisions concerning the implementation of the itinerary. If you commit any illegal act or, in the reasonable opinion of the Tour Leader, your behaviour is causing, or likely to cause, distress to others we may terminate your travel arrangements without any liability on our part.

The Tour Leader's decisions are final.

Local fishing guides

We hire fishing guides for each river system separately such that their local knowledge is amongst the best available. This means that they will be able to direct you to the most likely spots for fish to be found. They are not necessarily experts with all styles of fishing and are not there to demonstrate techniques. If you would like tuition whilst fishing, then please email us well in advance and we'll see what can be arranged.

Cooks

When camping, we have nominated cooks to ensure that you get to eat a variety of healthy, tasty food. Please bear in mind that all cooking will be done with limited facilities at the camp kitchen and that the cook cannot prepare separate meals for everyone.

Please note: Special dietary requirements should be notified to us at least 10 days before Day 1 of your fishing holiday so that the cook has time to adjust their meal plan and shopping list.

Drivers

Your drivers add another dimension to the trip. During the days they will be busy shuttling you around as required. After their driving is done for the day they can be relied upon to add colour to the group.

Drivers are not only experts at getting around (navigating and controlling their vehicles), they are also well-equipped to deal with almost all forms of mechanical failure. They will do their utmost to keep their vehicles running

4WD vans in Mongolia

We use Russian-built four-wheel-drive vans in the countryside. These are the preferred option of most locals and with good reason. They are simply built, which means easily repaired, and very strong. They can go almost anywhere, especially with an experienced driver at the wheel.

We allow for a maximum of only five passengers during long distance trips (not the six they are designed for). This means that one will ride up front with the driver and the others will sit behind, two to each bench seat. Everyone will have a window view, and there will be sufficient space for camping equipment, personal luggage and fishing tackle.

Fishing permits

We accept full responsibility for providing the necessary legal paperwork for your fishing at all the locations described in your itinerary.

Please note: You are responsible for ensuring that:

  • your tackle conforms with regulations; and
  • you implement the provisions of the Catch and Release policy in force.

Details of these will be sent to you after your deposit has been received.
