Ride a helicopter into the wilderness to a remote river with the potential for huge catches
Code: GFHF
10 night/11 day holiday, fishing in Kamchatka
Please Note: This fishing holiday operates with a minimum of 6 anglers
We take a helicopter to get us to the Opala River in the South-west corner of Kamchatka, an area that is otherwise nearly impossible to reach. The wilderness is a delight, and the fishing is amongst the very best there is. You will find yourself going home with great memories and much more than just fisherman's tales.
The main focus is fishing on the Opala River which flows out into the Okhotsk Sea. Fishing will be from the bank or from inflatables. There's a good 80Km section to explore so you can't possibly catch all the fish.
Day 1: Arrival Day
Transfer to your hotel. After everyone has arrived we will have a briefing before taking a short excursion to a hot spring resort to unwind after the long flight.
Meals: Dinner
Accommodation: Hotel
Day 2: Helicopter flight into the wilderness

We transfer to the airport to board our helicopter. The flight takes us over mountainous wilderness and right to our camp site beside the Opala River. This will be home for the next week or so.
Everyone should get in their first casts today, and hopefully off the mark with at least one of the many species on offer.
Meals: Breakfast at the hotel, lunch and dinner from the camp kitchen
Train: About one hour
Accommodation: Camping
Day 3 to Day 8: Fishing the Opala River

With an 80Km section of great fishing to explore your next few days are going to disappear in a haze of casts and strikes.
You can take an inflatable as the easiest mode of transport, whether or not you decide to fish from that or the shore.
The scenery is magnificent, with pristine forest set against volcanic mountains. Look out for brown bears. They also enjoy the sport.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner from the camp kitchen
