Mahseer Safari
Fantastic fishing from one of India's most famous National Parks. Both the Ramganga and Kosi rivers are well known for mighty Mahseer
9 night/10 day holiday, fishing for mahseer in northern India
This fishing holiday is based around the Corbett National Park, more famous for its tigers. The Ramganga River flows through the park; the Kosi forms part of its eastern boundary.
We have opted to fish the two venues to give you more variety and a better chance of catching big fish.
You will stay in comfortable resorts and, with plenty of other things to see and do within the park, you could easily bring non-fishing companions along.
Please note: This fishing holiday starts and ends in New Delhi (Airport Code, DEL) as there is no other suitable airport close to Corbett National Park. Through our agents in India we can provide you with all the assistance you need to get there from another international portal, including any domestic flights, trains, transfers or accommodation.
If you would like to extend your holiday with other services in India then we can provide a free quotation on request.
Day 1: New Delhi - Kosi River
You will be met at the Indira Gandhi airport (or other agreed venue) and driven by air-conditioned vehicle to our resort by the Kosi River. We should be there in time to freshen up and have a look around before dinner.
Meals: Lunch as appropriate. Dinner at the resort
Drive: 260 Km, about 6 hours
Accommodation: Resort
Day 2 to Day 4: Fishing on the Kosi River
The fishing here will focus on Mahseer. Fishing will involve some walking but nothing too onerous.
You are, of course, free to take time away from the fishing if you want to take another form of safari within the national park. Fishing is our sport - but we can well understand anyone wanting to spot a tiger or other wildlife.
Meals: Breakfast and dinner at the resort. Lunch will normally be served to you wherever you are fishing
Accommodation: Resort
Day 5: Transfer to the Ramganga River
After breakfast we take the short drive to our new base beside the Ramganga River. After lunch we will head out for fishing on this exciting river. The Ramganga River is well known for Mahseer; a specimen in excess of 30 kilograms was recorded here recently.
Some anglers may be more interested in Catfishing. These grow even larger - to 50 kilograms at least. Of course you will need different tackle, bait and tactics - but then catfishers will know all the tricks.
Fishing is permitted along a 14 Km beat. You will probably walk to the nearer sections but we will arrange to drop you or pick you up for the more distant ones.
Meals: Breakfast at the Kosi River resort. Lunch and dinner at the Ramganga River resort
Drive: 25 Km, about 45 minutes
Accommodation: Resort
Day 6 to Day 8: Fishing on the Ramganga River
Continue trying different sections. With 14 Km to keep you occupied there should be no need to go back to the same pool twice - unless you want to.
On the last night we will have a special celebratory meal with our guides.
Meals: Breakfast and dinner at the resort. Lunch will normally be served to you wherever you are fishing
Accommodation: Resort
Day 9: Ramganga River resort - New Delhi
We leave after breakfast for the drive back to New Delhi. We aim to get settled into our hotel in the vicinity of the Indira Gandhi Airport before the notorious Delhi traffic builds for the evening.
Drive: 280 Km, about six hours
Accommodation: Hotel
Day 10: Depart for home
For many, there will be a transfer to airport for an international flight home.
